Mr. Hoover’s famous words “Gentlemen, You Have a Race” were uttered from this P-51 for many years at the National Air Races in Reno, Nevada. Sponsored by North American Aviation, later known as Rockwell, this colorful P-51 was owned and flown by the “Pilot’s Pilot” R.A. “Bob” Hoover.
This set will letter one P-51 in the various versions of the Rockwell era markings on Mr. Hoover’s P-51D, and is available in 1:32, 1:48 and 1:72 scales.

Brings back a fond memory when Bob was flying for Evergreen.
I was in a group of sales folks that were sent to Redmond, Oregon to work an airshow. We all flew over on the Evergreen Ford Tri-Motor, that was very memorable.
Bob Hoover performed in his Commander and his P-51 there as well. As always he put on a great show.
That first evening we ran into Bob in front of our motel. He was waiting for a limo that was going to take him to some sort of dinner honoring him. I remember his saying, “Just what I need is another silver platter, or trophy, wish I could go with you folks”….
As an an employee of the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, I would love to see the Evergreen version as well. I have access to the Evergreen Aviation logos from our corporate communications and can talk to the owner, (which I do a couple times a week) about making such a project happen if you like.
