Oldest Serving MD80 Retired

Argentine airline Austral just retired the world’s longest serving MD80 when LV-WHL was retired on 2-2-12.  Originally delivered as N10027, DC-9-81 MSN 48025, LN 952 flew  70,444 hrs and 60,350 cycles while in service with Austral, its only operator.

FedEx Airbus A300-600F’s Released

U.S. express carrier FedEx has operated a large fleet of Airbus A300-600 freighters (over 70 different aircraft at one time or another).   As with the venerable Boeing 727, FedEx took delivery of the final A300 built – N692FE.

This set is designed to work with the BraZ Models A300-600 conversion which is used in conjunction with the Revell Beluga kit.  The A300 set joins our other FedEx sets for the 727, 747, 757, 777, A380, A310 and BC-17.

Mid-Continent Airlines Lodestars Released

Mid-Continent Airlines were actually the launch customer for the Lockheed Lodestar, putting three of the Model 18-07’s into service on “The Great Plains Route” flying from Tulsa,OK to Minot, ND with stops in between.  This set is designed for the Special Hobby Lodestar kit in 1:72 scale.

Egypt Air Star Alliance 737-800 Released

As with other Star Alliance member airlines, Egyptair has painted several aircraft in the Star Alliance colors scheme.  This decal provides the markings for Boeing 737-866 SU-GCS, which was delivered new from Boeing in these colors in the Fall of 2008.

This set is available in both 1:144 and 1:200 scales, and joins our other Star Alliance sets.

Shot of the Day

Sometimes luck is on your side and a normal shot gets extra special.  I spent a few hours at MSP this afternoon, and I caught N710SY operating Sun Country flight 102 from Las Vegas.  After checking my shot on the LCD, I noticed a celestial hitch-hiker.  Apologies for the lapse in modesty, but I had to share this one here.
