Description
Northwest received their first DC-4 in March 1946. Many of the fleet were military C-54’s converted to civilian configuration after the war. The DC-4 carried 62 passengers, was powered by four 1450 hp Pratt & Whitney engines and cruised at 225 mph at 8,000 ft. The “Manila ” was flown on Northwest’s inagural passenger flight from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai and Manila in July 1947.
