In late 1985, Piedmont Airlines took delivery of its first Fokker F28 Mk.4000. Eight of the larger Fellowships, ordered directly from Fokker, complimented Piedmont’s existing fleet of F28 Mk.1000s. Aircraft were delivered in Piedmont’s then current colors. The following year, Piedmont acquired Empire Airlines and its fleet of 17 F28.4000s, making the airline the world’s largest F28 operator (Piedmont would also go on to become the world’s largest Boeing 737 operator). The aircraft would continue to serve with USAir, following Piedmont’s acquisition by and merger with that airline. This decal provides the markings for Piedmont’s F28.4000s, including the transition markings worn by some of the Empire aircraft.
