Description
Like most other European national airlines in the 1990s (i.e. British Airways, KLM, Swissair), Lufthansa German Airlines did not operate its own mainline aircraft on service to Taiwan, so as not to anger mainland communist China. Unlike its rivals, Lufthansa did not have to create an “Asia” subsidiary for those flights. Instead, it transferred one of its Boeing 747-430M Combi aircraft, D-ABTD – Hamburg, to subsidiary Condor for the Taiwan service.
