North Carolina-based Piedmont Airlines was known as the “Up and Coming Airline” for its growth from a small regional carrier to one of the United States’ Majors (revenue greater than $1 billion) in a few short years following deregulation. As part of its expansion in the 1980s, Piedmont ordered a small fleet of 767-200ERs to begin Trans-Atlantic service, beginning with London. Five aircraft were delivered in this scheme and named, with the final frame delivered in a bare metal hybrid scheme in anticipation of the USAir merger (see DRAW Decal Set 767-29). This decal provides the full-colors markings for any of the six aircraft in the fleet, prior to the 1989 merger with USAir.
