Description

In July 2019, the Royal Air Force’s first Poseidon MRA1 had its first flight. The United Kingdom has ordered nine of the Boeing P-8 patrol aircraft to replace capabilities lost with the retirement of their Nimrod fleet several years before. The first aircraft (ZP801) is named “Pride of Moray” as a tribute to the region of Scotland in which the Poseidons’ home base of RAF Lossiemouth is located, and its historic ties to the UK’s maritime patrol heritage. Also included are ZP802 “City of Elgin”, ZP803 “Terrence Bulloch DSO* DFC*”, ZP804 “Spirit of Reykjavik” and ZP805 “Fulmar”
