Description

Initially delivered on 24 April, 1962 as a conventional C-135B. Later modified to a WC Weather bird in 1965. It was placed in storage at MASDC in 1972. It was removed from storage in 1973 and reconfigured as a C-135C and reentered service as a replacement for the existing “Speckled Trout.”  The 412th Flight Test Squadron (412 FLTS) of the Air Force Material Command (AFMC) at Edwards AFB, California operated the C-135 Speckled Trout airframe and managed its test mission.
