Description

In October 1995, ValuJet Airlines was the launch customer for the ultimate variant of the venerable Douglas DC-9 family – the McDonnell-Douglas MD-95. In 1995 ValuJet placed an initial order for 50 aircraft plus 50 options. The MD-95 became the 717 after Douglas merged with Boeing, and ValuJet became AirTran who placed the 717 into service in 1999.
