Republic Hybrid 757s Released
In addition to the world’s largest fleet of DC-9s, Republic Airlines also operated Boeing 727s as well as the 727’s successor the 757. The first three Republic 757s were delivered in Republic’s “Mary Tyler Moore” scheme, but the final three were delivered just prior to the merger with Northwest in this unique and short-lived scheme. Republic Airlines was created by the 1979 merger of Southern Airways and North Central Airlines. Following the 1980 buyout of Hughes Airwest, Republic became the world’s largest operator of the DC-9. Part of this fleet were 28 of the long-bodied DC-9-51s all inherited from North Central. Our decal depicts the Republic DC-9-51 fleet in this attractive turquoise scheme.
