"Cripes A Mighty IVth" N6301T flew during the 1990s representing an aircraft flown by George Preddy in the 352nd Fighter Group -
In 1967 Chuck Lyford’s N2869D “Bardahl Special” returned to Reno with clipped wings and stabs along with a new engine. "Bardahl Special" qualified second for Sunday’s unlimited gold race. After pulling out to a short lead over Darryl Greenamyer for the first three pylons, Lyford’s Merlin let loose on the back stretch and his Reno dreams were drenched in oil and smoke for the second year in a row. -
After many decades celebrated pilot Clay Lacy sold his P-51D Mustang N64CL to aerobatic pilot Vicky Benzing who had it overhauled and renamed as "Plum Crazy", retaining its iconic orchid purple scheme. -
The wartime "Donna-Mite" was operated by the 352nd Fighter Squadron, 353rd Fighter Group and flown by Lt Leroy Pletz. This decal represents the civilian P-51D N6327T that was lost in 2005. -

Chuck Lyford’s original N2869D “Bardahl Special” N2869D was returned to its original white race paint scheme and was raced in the Unlimited Class by Steven Coutches at the 2022 Stihl National Air Races in Reno. -
Wiley Sanders’ “Jeannie Too” has flown for many years in an RAAF-type colour scheme. Our decal depicts the aircraft as it appeared at the Confederate Air Force Airshow 88 at Harlingen, Texas with race numbers applied over the fuselage roundels and a number of sponsor logos present. -
"Bardahl Miss", N335J (Race 49) raced for many years during the 1960s in a number of guises. In 1968 it wore this black and yellow checked scheme. -
"Cripes A Mighty 3rd" is painted in tribute to Mustang top ace Major George E. Preddy of the 352nd Fighter Group. Kermit Weeks' P-51D "Cripes A Mighty 3rd", N921 was restored in the late 1990s to the highest possible standard. Our decal represents "Cripes A Mighty 3rd" as it appeared at the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in 2007. -
After competing in the 1964 Harold's Club Transcontinental Trophy Dash and at the Reno Air Races, Chuck Lyford continued to race his all-white P-51D-25 at Reno placing second in the Gold Race in 1965 and dropping out of the Gold Race in 1966. This version of the "Bardahl Special" was the second version used with the black and orange reversed for better visibility. -
23-year old Chuck Lyford flew this all-white P-51D-25 in the 1964 Harold's Club Transcontinental Trophy Dash from St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Florida to Reno Nevada. After leading the entire race, a serious of events at the end of the race conspired to have Chuck finish 2nd out of the eight P-51s that started the race. The "Bardahl Special" was unique in this race as Chuck used 150 gallon Skyraider drop tanks to extend his range. Chuck's "Bardahl Special" also pylon raced at Reno, of course without the drop tanks used in the transcon race. -
This Mustang reportedly saw combat service as "Miss Helen" of the 487th Fighter Squadron, 352nd Fighter Group, coded HO-M and flown by Raymond Littge. "Miss Helen", G-BIXL was restored in the late 1980s and initially appeared in an anonymous 352nd FG scheme before being painted drab/pale grey as "Miss L" for the film "Memphis Belle". The aircraft remained in a drab/pale grey scheme for some time after filming before being refinished in silver and named as "Miss Helen", possibly its original World War II identity. "Impatient Virgin", a "Malcolm Hood" P-51B Mustang flew with the 376th FS, 361st FG. The aircraft crashed in England in 1945 and the wreckage was recovered in 2002 and restored to fly again. -
Clay Lacy raced his orchid purple P-51D, N64CL, for many decades, including winning the gold race at Reno in 1970. Our decal features double-struck white ink to remain opaque over the purple fuselage. A great match for the paint is 70 Dodge Panther Pink from ScaleFinishes. "Marinell" was the second P-51 restoration by Maurice Hammond, completed in the markings of Capt Bradford Stevens of the 339th FG, 504th FS -
"Fragile But Agile" was flown by Bert Lee of the 342nd FS, 348th FG, in the Philippines in 1945. -
In the mid-1960s ZK-CCG flew in New Zealand in this Mobil-sponsored livery. The aircraft later moved to the USA as N921 and was subsequently acquired and extensively restored by Kermit Weeks who still owns it today. -

1994 Reno Unlimited Gold winner "Miss America", N991R has been a long-time racer, generally in a relatively stock configuration. It appeared in this version of the well known Miss America scheme at Oshkosh in 1998. The airframe, at this time, had a reduced span tailplane and wings with racing modifications to the wingtips. Our decal features double-struck opaque white ink. -
"Petie 2nd" was one of the aircraft flown by Lt. Col. John C. Meyer, CO of the 487th Fighter Squadron, 352nd Fighter Group. This decal represents this Mustang as it appeared at Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in Columbus, Ohio during 2007. "Petie 2nd" N5427V and virtually identical "Petie 2nd" N314BG were both at the 2007 Gathering and were very similar in appearance. -
"Petie 2nd" was one of the aircraft flown by Lt. Col. John C. Meyer, CO of the 487th Fighter Squadron, 352nd Fighter Group. N314BG, was rebuilt from the wreckage of the late lamented "CF-BAU" of the Canadian Warplane Heritage. After a period in England, it moved to the US. This decal represents this Mustang as it appeared at Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in Columbus, Ohio during 2007. "Petie 2nd" N314BG and virtually identical "Petie 2nd" N5427V were both at the 2007 Gathering and were very similar in appearance. -
"Val-Halla", N151AF, flies in postwar USAF 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron markings with high-visibility red panels, paying tribute to the F-89s and F-102s flown from Iceland by owner and retired astronaut Bill Anders. This decal represents this Mustang as it appeared at Gathering of Mustangs in 1999. -

How did we get our Name?
My father is a US Army-trained draftsman, and he always signed his drawings with the initials “DRAW.” Since we have to DRAW our decals, and DRAW is also the first four letters of my last name, it seemed to be a natural name for our company.
What is the idea behind DRAW Decal?
I produce airline decals that normally would not be popular enough to justify mass producing. Each decal is printed as demand warrants, one page at a time by a professional print house. This makes for slow production, but it allows us to individually inspect each decal and to also update the decal sets as the need arises. While these production sets are all currently available, they are only produced (i.e. printed) as they are ordered. I have no large pile of unsold, unpopular decals to contend with this way. Our decals are as close to custom-made as possible.
Who creates your art?
The art work for our decals is created by a group of artists, with each one contributing sets of their own unique design and preference. Currently, DRAW Decal offers decals designed by: Tim Bradley, Mike Egan, Norm Filer, Mike Jernfors, Jeff Thomsen and yours truly, Greg Drawbaugh. Each set is identified by whom designed it unless I was the one who designed it.
How do I do that?
Our decals are printed in our exclusive Next Generation DIGITAL Silk process using a large format digital printer that prints white ink. We do NOT sell ANY laser-printed decals. Laser printers are for printing instruction sheets, not printing decals.
We are made the switch to our latest Next Generation DIGITAL Silk process to provide what we believe to be among the highest quality decals in the industry. We also want to be able to provide subjects that just would not print well using any other process. Quality and value have always been our driving force, and we continue to push the limits of what our printer and artwork is capable of producing. We operate under a continual improvement process for all of our decals.
Do you run out of stock?
No, as I print decals only as they are ordered. This ensures that the decals are fresh and never out of stock. This also allows me to make corrections and additions to each set as they occur.
Once applied, these decals will look just like they were painted on, rather than just “stickers” applied over a paint job. Remember, the art of decaling is making it look like you did not use any decals!
